1st-year 49ers who may not even play a single snap for San Francisco

There are plenty of first-year 49ers players who may just wind up having a "cup of coffee" with the team in 2023.

No. 4: 49ers quarterback Brandon Allen

He probably can feel a little excited about working alongside a star-studded offense like that of the 49ers, particularly when All-Pros like tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Deebo Samuel are present.

But, it's safe to wonder why quarterback Brandon Allen ever wanted to take the time trying to make the Niners' 53-man roster as a reserve signal-caller behind Brock Purdy, the presumed starter, when San Francisco is trying to test that job between Trey Lance and Sam Darnold.

Seriously, when looking at the 49ers' biggest offseason storyline, it's the quarterback battle between Darnold and Lance.

Allen is over there waving his hand, saying, "I'm here, too."

No one is counting.
