Only George Kittle could pull off friendliest of jabs at Broncos' Talanoa Hufanga

Of course, George would say something like that.

A week ago, the San Francisco 49ers were collectively thanking Denver Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga for ending the Los Angeles Rams' hopes for a Sunday Night Football victory.

Last Sunday, though, the Niners wanted nothing more than to embarrass their former teammate in the worst of fashions.

Leave it to tight end George Kittle to do just that.

With the game still very much in doubt toward the end of regulation, Kittle caught a screen pass from quarterback Brock Purdy and exploited a vacant middle of the field within Denver's defense, scrambling 56 yards into the end zone for what pretty much put the 24-14 San Francisco victory on ice.

One player in Kittle's trail of dust? Hufanga.

And you know Kittle couldn't leave that as it was, right? No, of course not.

Kittle is never one to shy away from poking fun at teammates, both current and past. Unfortunately for Denver's safety, he has to wear the tight end's postgame comments now.

"I outran Huf, and he's 26 years old, and I'm 32 coming off an Achilles," Kittle told CBS Sports' Melanie Collins after the game. "So, think about that one, Huf."

Indeed, Hufanga might have to weigh that with memories of Kittle's backside never quite getting into reach at a crucial point in the game.

But the comments continued because, of course, they would.

During his postgame presser, Kittle went one further by describing what it meant to beat a former teammate in a crucial moment:

"Outrunning younger, old teammates is always a good time, especially when they're 26," Kittle concluded when recalling Hufanga in his dust again.

Surely, Kittle doesn't intend any disrespect to Hufanga. Any fan who knows anything about the two individuals clearly understands the level of respect and friendship they have toward one another. Hufanga even said how Kittle was one of his favorite teammates back when they both shared the 49ers' locker room together.

For now, though, Hufanga will have to wince and smile while Kittle can bask with a victorious smile.
