The Niner Noise Podcast is just about back in the swing of the regular season, as they drop their second episode of the week, this time in reaction to the San Francisco 49ers' initial 53-man roster.

This is always an exciting time of the year, as NFL rosters are beginning to take shape for what the teams will look like heading into Week 1 of the regular season, which, is just about a week away, with the Dallas Cowboys facing the Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles next Thursday night.

And that has Niner Noise podcast co-host Akshaj Dwivedula particuarly jazzed, something he expresses early on in the latest episode. The rosters mean that the season is nearly upon us, as the 49ers prepare for their first game of the season: a trip to Seattle to take on the Seahawks.

The bulk of the episode is focused on looking at the initial 53-man roster and how it breaks down for the Niners as they head into the season. It's a bit of an unusual group, mostly due to the massive amount of injuries the 49ers have suffered through this offseason, and the team brass having to figure out how to maneuver things like the PUP list, season-ending IR, designations to return, as well as players who they want to keep but who may not be ready for Week 1.

That creates situations like the 49ers' carrying two full offensive lines on the initial group, along with double-digit defensive lineman, even as they added another player off the waiver wire from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The shuffling also necessitated that the 49ers not carry a punter on the initial 53, something they'll likely remedy soon (although the idea of a punter-less offense has both hosts fairly pumped), another in a series of quirks in this roster construction.

Your hosts also take a look at the expected arrival of former Packers and Chiefs wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling, rumors around a former 49er receiver who is on the open market again, along with the current state of the practice squad.
