The Niner Noise Podcast is gearing up for the real start of football season, as the preseason is done and dusted, and all that's left is the waiting on whom the San Francisco 49ers will select for the initial 53-man roster later today.

Your hosts, Robert Morrison and Akshaj Dwivedula, begin the episode by looking back at their overarching thoughts and feelings about the preseason, with a great deal of focus centered on the major topic of discussion throughout the offseason: the continued adventures of the Niners' injury bug.

It's a difficult conversation, but one that needs unpacking, especially in relation to how it impacts general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan and the choices they make in building the roster.

You can listen to the full episode below:

Your intrepid hosts also discuss the trades for former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore and former Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson, Jr., looking specifically at how those trades will age as the season goes on and players begin to get back healthy in those units.

But the bulk of the episode is a little game focused on the initial 53-man roster, based on a previously published attempt to predict how the roster will shake out.

That leaves Akshaj attempting to guess which players Robert thinks will make the team based on how many players he's selected for each position group, making for a rather fun exercise in podcast host mind melding, as well as an indication of how far along this roster is at this point in the offseason.

(There may have been a slight clerical error involved, as counting is hard).
