This odd space between the end of free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft is often difficult to navigate from a content creation perspective. So the Niner Noise Podcast is taking on a unique direction in order to facilitate conversation about the draft.
Over the next few weeks leading up to the draft, your hosts -- Robert Morrison and Akshaj Dwivedula -- will pose theoretical moves the San Francisco 49ers could make in the draft and use those as jumping off points for further discussion about the Niners' team needs and draft strategy.
In the opening edition of this miniseries, Robert poses the first theoretical: "Should the 49ers trade up into the top five to draft Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham?"
The bulk of the discussion is on the value of Graham as a player and what he would add to the Niners' front seven, as the specific question of whether general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan should entertain another big move from just outside the top 10 to inside the top three or four is an easy one for both of your hosts to respond to.
And so, the question isn't exactly if the Niners should trade up to grab Graham specifically, especially given the failure the last time San Francisco made a move of that magnitude, but whether or not there's anyone in this draft who would be worth that kind of gamble given the depth of this year's draft, particuarly along the defensive line, the place where the Niners need to focus attention.
With so much riding on the draft this year, it is imperative the 49ers nail as many picks as they can, so stay tuned to the Niner Noise Podcast in the coming weeks as the pod continues to break down the draft and try to predict what the Niners will do with their 11 selections.
