The San Francisco 49ers need everyone to be at their best in 2026 to make a run. Being in the NFC West with the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams indicates that San Francisco will need its top players ready to roll.
And it appears they'll have defensive end Nick Bosa back for training camp.
Organized team activities started on May 27 in San Francisco, and players were back in the building. Bosa spoke to the media on Thursday for the first time since tearing his ACL and provided a positive update:
"I'm pretty far along. [I'm] out on the field doing a lot of stuff, trying to just take it slow because I tend to push things quicker. I got injured pretty early last year, so there's plenty of time for me to really kind of lay the groundwork to be ready for a long season. It's going really well and I plan on being ready," Bosa said.
Bosa believes he'll be back for training camp or shortly after.
And that's a major plus for the 49ers, as he's one of their best defensive players.
Nick Bosa thinks he'll be back for 49ers training camp
Bosa tore his ACL in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals, which wasn't the first time that's happened to the All-Pro. Since that happened in September, it was early in the season, and it will give him 12 months before the next season begins.
With training camp slated to start in July, he'll be 10 months post-injury, and he feels like he'll be able to get back on the gridiron. The fact that he's dealt with this injury before, he knows how the rehab process will go, and it gives him a baseline for expectations. It also helps Bosa didn't have any other ligament damage, so that makes his rehab process that much easier.
Although he hasn't been on the field, Bosa has worked on the side with his teammates going through OTAs. Just being in the building and getting stronger with each passing day is what fans want to hear.
When training camp rolls around, Bosa believes he'll take the field and allow himself to build up more strength and confidence in his knee ahead of the campaign. You never want to see your star player suffer a setback, and it seems like San Francisco won't have to deal with that regarding Bosa.
The Ohio State product is a true difference maker for this defense, as he's logged 64.5 sacks and 91 tackles for a loss in his Niners career. San Francisco knows the impact he brings, and it's great news that fans should expect him back on the field sometime during training camp.
