Kyle Shanahan’s wild football throw becomes a viral TV-breaking moment

Good thing TVs are cheap (well, not really).

Of course, head coach Kyle Shanahan would prefer it if his San Francisco 49ers were actually playing in Super Bowl 60 instead of merely being the hosting team at Levi's Stadium.

But, given the Niners were eliminated by the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round, at least fans are treated to some fun and entertaining appearances by several of San Francisco's own coaches and players.

Including one ill-advised pass attempt by Shanahan.

With radio row festivities in full swing, Shanahan partook in some fan-centered events leading up to Sunday's big game.

Perhaps he should have merely stayed as an observer, though.

Kyle Shanahan accidentally smashes a TV with viral football toss

Who knows what the competition was, but the 49ers coach apparently was engaging in some sort of football-tossing contest alongside NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, the latter two opting short passes to fans and spectators nearby.

Shanahan, meanwhile, opted to go deep... with hilariously disastrous results:

Yes, that was a TV catching the brunt of Shanahan's pass.

The TV wasn't immediately made available for comment on the incident.

Of course, this isn't the first viral pass from Shanahan that's hit the news wire.

Back in July of 2021, when Shanahan was visiting former Niners left tackle Joe Staley, the coach attempted to throw a football into a pizza oven across the street.

Unlike the TV, which wasn't the intended target, Shanahan managed to hit the pizza oven in the, err... numbers:

"The funny thing about that video was the buildup because Kyle was talking for five minutes before that video about how he's going to hit it in that little pizza oven and we we're like, 'no you're not. You're not going to do that and there's no way you can hit it,'" Staley explained. "And first one, first take. He didn't stop talking about the rest of the day."

Perhaps Shanahan won't talk quite as much about his pre-Super Bowl miss, although it's almost as entertaining as the made throw he bragged about back in 2021.

Almost.
