San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch has helped turn around the franchise since he joined the organization along with head coach Kyle Shanahan in 2017.

It seems the GM doesn't want to leave until the franchise has another Super Bowl.

Appearing on Tim Kawakami's podcast, Lynch said the following when asked about how long he'd like to remain general manager of the team:

"I came here to get something done, and that was kind of to help a really proud organization get back on track and win championships — compete and win championships. We’ve done the compete part. We haven’t won it and when I get my mind set on something, I really want to see it come to fruition."

Lynch absolutely has done everything except win a Super Bowl for San Francisco. He has helped assemble two different rosters that were right on the precipice of glory but were ultimately spurned both times by the Kansas City Chiefs.

He has also fielded other teams that had a chance to make it to the Super Bowl but came up just short in the NFC Championship game.

It is pretty cool to hear him say that he wants to stick around until the 49ers win a Super Bowl. He has already proven to everyone he could successfully make the transition from the broadcast booth to the front office with great success, so there really isn't anything left to prove, but he clearly wants to get the franchise over the top and help deliver a sixth Lombardi Trophy to a storied organization.

The Lynch-Shanahan combination has been pretty incredible. The two have worked in concert with one another, and if there have been disagreements or fights, they have kept them behind closed doors.

It seems from the outside that the two work very well together and there is not a ton of ego involved as they both try to win a Super Bowl.

The fact they are both still chasing it may give the Niners a fighting chance even though it does feel like they have already had a few really good chances they let slip through their fingers.

This season has been a testament to the relationship between Lynch and Shanahan; Lynch was honest that there needed to be cutbacks and a decrease in spending, and yet the Niners are in a much better place than they were last season.

Sure, not every decision Lynch makes pans out. But on the whole, he deserves an A-grade for the job he has done in San Francisco. If he is still with the team to oversee a Super Bowl win, then he would certainly get an A-plus for seeing it through to the end.
