C'mon, Josh. Weren't you a Niners fan growing up?

The 49ers were interested in Joey Bosa, but a last-minute pitch by Josh Allen ultimately convinced the pass-rusher to head to the Bills instead.

It's unclear just how close the San Francisco 49ers ultimately got to a Bosa Bros. feature in 2025.

That said, there was no shortage of smoke suggesting defensive end Joey Bosa could join forces with his brother, defensive end Nick Bosa, in the Bay Area after the Los Angeles Chargers made the former an offseason cap casualty.

In the end, though, it wasn't meant to be. Bosa ultimately signed on with the Buffalo Bills, who not only outbid both the Niners and the Miami Dolphins, the other team reportedly in the mix for his services, but who also had a pretty vital spokesperson to do the recruiting.

MVP quarterback Josh Allen.

During his introductory press conference, the elder Bosa brother revealed how Buffalo's signal-caller reached out to him in an effort to switch coasts.

"Josh texted me that if we do what we set out to do, we could really be immortalized in this town," Bosa revealed during the presser.

Who gave Allen Bosa's phone number again?

Well, it worked. Allen, a Northern California native who grew up a San Francisco fan, ultimately burned his boyhood team by ensuring Bosa wouldn't stay in state.

The 49ers, meanwhile, are left without a quality pass-rusher to pair with Nick Bosa, meaning they'll have to turn to scraps after missing out on one of the bigger names on the open market.

As for a Bosa-Bosa pairing, it could theoretically happen at some point down the road.

Just not anytime soon.
