Jim Harbaugh didn't hesitate to shower all kinds of praise upon Brock Purdy

There'll be plenty of nostalgic reunions when the Los Angeles Chargers and the San Francisco 49ers prepare to square off for their Week 2 preseason showdown on Thursday, preceded by joint practices between the two squads.

Of course, Bolts head coach Jim Harbaugh might highlight the reunion list, thanks to his highly successful tenure as the Niners head coach between 2011 and 2014.

It sure seems as if Harbaugh has fully moved on from the tumultuous exit he had from San Francisco in January of 2015, and the longtime coach had nothing but good things to say about his former franchise.

Including the 49ers' quarterback, Brock Purdy, whom Harbaugh desperately wants to meet.

49ers can count Jim Harbaugh as a major Brock Purdy fan

Speaking to reporters ahead of the joint practices between the two clubs, Harbaugh was asked about Purdy and subsequently had nothing but praise for the Niners signal-caller.

"I want to meet Brock Purdy," Harbaugh said, via the San Jose Mercury News' Cam Inman. "Hopefully, Kyle [Shanahan] introduces him to me."

There'll probably be time for that when the two West Coast squads engage in joint practices in Southern California leading up to Thursday's exhibition showdown at SoFI Stadium.

Harbaugh also compared Purdy to how Shanahan has operated his squad over the year, too, continuing the praise for San Francisco and its quarterback.

"His timing, his decision making, his accuracy," Harbaugh continued regarding Purdy. "I just like how cool he is, how cool he plays, and all that. Kind of the same way I think of Kyle—the cool stuff he puts on tape. I love his demeanor. I love the toughness of his teams. I love that they're really good at football. Great to be around them."

Harbaugh, who's also known as a bit of a quarterback whisperer, might prompt a handful of "what if?" questions from 49ers fans, wondering what it might have been like if Purdy worked under Harbaugh instead of Shanahan.

That's more nostalgia talking, though, as opposed to reality.

But, if there's any takeaway, knowing how big a fan Harbaugh is of Purdy certainly goes a long way toward debunking those critics who feel the Niners QB is merely a byproduct of the coaching staff and talent around him.
