San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings has to be feeling pretty happy despite his team's grueling Week 18 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Despite the Niners falling short in a game that could have landed them the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture, Jennings nevertheless secured a $2.4 million incentive after playing at least 35 offensive snaps against the Hawks, worded as doing so in his 15th game of the season.
Jennings had already secured an incentive of $1.6 million by appearing on at least 35 snaps for the previous 14 games, but the hefty boost showed up after he logged 37 snaps against Seattle.
Now, with San Francisco poised to visit the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round, the big-bodied receiver stands to make even more cash.
Jauan Jennings is within reach of $600,000 incentive in Wild Card round
Fans may recall how Jennings had a reworked contract, full of incentives, in response to his previous demands for either an extension or a trade. The 49ers' response was to redo the remaining year of his deal. Early on, it certainly appeared as if the Niners made a smart choice, as the wideout was dealing with various injuries and lackluster performances.
Yet Jennings slowly started to bounce back, ultimately finishing the year with 643 yards and nine touchdowns on 55 receptions, which triggered another $1.3 million bonus for getting beyond 600 yards and six scores.
There's more money on the line, though. Should Jennings log an additional 35 snaps against Philly (or any other postseason game), he'll receive another $600,000 incentive in his bank account.
Considering Jennings has been an offensive mainstay for San Francisco all year long, barring injury, it's hard to fathom him not reaching that plateau when the 49ers square off against Philadelphia on Sunday, Jan. 11 at Lincoln Financial Field.
