On the day veterans were to report to San Francisco 49ers training camp, general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media regarding concerns over wide receiver Jauan Jennings.
Specifically, the duo was asked about Jennings' contractual situation, his ask for an extension and reported trade request.
Shanahan denied there was ever an official trade request, and Lynch stressed how important Jennings was to the team, also adding there was a full expectation the wide receiver would be a full-go for camp practices the following day.
However, there was the lingering concern whether or not Jennings would stage a "hold-in," physically present at practices to avoid a $50,000 per-day fine but not participating in on-field drills until an amicable solution was reached.
Well, those concerns seem to have been answered.
In positive fashion, too.

On Wednesday, Jennings was observed by multiple fans and beat reporters in full uniform for team practices, not standing on the sideline out of uniform.

WR Jauan Jennings, set to enter his contract year, is on the field at the beginning of the 49ers’ first practice of training camp. Last year, Brandon Aiyuk opted to “hold in” while his contract was unresolved.

Sure, it's still possible Jennings opts to pursue the hold-in route at any point during camp. But, if the first day is any indication, he plans on participating in all drills and practices while awaiting whatever takes place between his agent and the front office.
Entering a contract year, Jennings' career-high 975 receiving yards a year ago help set the stage for what could be a lucrative deal at some point between now and next season, possibly on the free-agent market with another team, too.
However, in light of the Niners' early shortages at wide receiver (both Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall on the physically unable-to-perform list), Jennings' immediate importance to Shanahan and Lynch can't be understated.
So, in that light, it's excellent news "Third and Jauan" is an active participant in camp.
