George Kittle is about the only thing 49ers have going vs. Chiefs

There isn't too much excitement from the 49ers' end in Week 7 against the Chiefs.

It's finally the Super Bowl LVIII rematch we've all been waiting for, with the Kansas City Chiefs visiting the San Francisco 49ers for a regular-season matchup.

The first half of this game though has been fairly underwhelming, to say the least. The Chiefs lead the Niners 14-6 at halftime. Chiefs' defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has greatly outcoached head coach Kyle Shanahan in the first half of this game.

The 49ers have only 131 total yards compared to the Chiefs' 170 total yards. The Chiefs also lead the 49ers in time of possession, 18:47 to 11:13.

The Niners have already committed six penalties for 40 yards. Both teams' quarterbacks, Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes have each thrown an interception on the day.

In addition, dynamic wide receiver Deebo Samuel went to the locker room with an illness after only playing a few snaps. Fellow receiver Brandon Aiyuk also went to the medical tent with an injury after making a big-time reception on the last drive of the first half.

Neither running backs on the 49ers have mustered anything on the ground. Jordan Mason and Isaac Guerendo have combined for a measly five yards rushing.

With the mounting injuries for the 49ers, they'll need to lean heavily on Kittle in the second half. He'll especially need to be targeted in the red zone, to ensure that they get touchdowns rather than field goals when they get there.

The only silver lining in this game for the 49ers has been tight end George Kittle. He finished the first half with three receptions for 71 yards. His 41-yard reception set up the 49ers for a field goal at the end of the half.
