George Kittle, 2 others who'll climb 49ers' all-time lists this season
While the San Francisco 49ers rest up on their Week 9 bye, the Faithful got to relax (a bit) and ponder some things.
In Week 8, the Niners defeated the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 30-24. It was a much-needed victory that got San Francisco back to .500 at the halfway point of the season.
Another noteworthy thing in that particular game was that tight end George Kittle passed the legendary late great, wide receiver Dwight Clark, to move to third on the 49ers' all-time receiving yards list.
Kittle now has 6,777 receiving yards in his career, trailing only Hall of Famers Terrell Owens and Jerry Rice on that list.
Which other Niners might end up jumping up on all-time franchise lists this season?
Paired with Kittle climbing the ranks, let's a look at two others who might make some jumps sooner than later.
Fred Warner -- forced fumbles
The 49ers' franchise leader in forced fumbles is 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, linebacker Patrick Willis, who had 16 forced fumbles in his prolific career.
Interestingly enough, the No. 2 on that list is All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner with 15 forced fumbles.
Warner has been excellent this season with punching the ball out of the arms of unsuspecting ball carriers, and he currently is tied with Pittsburgh Steelers edge T.J. Watt for most forced fumbles in 2024 with four thus far.
Warner could very easily pass up Willis next week when the 49ers travel to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Interestingly enough, Warner already had two forced fumbles in a game this season, and it could potentially happen again when the Niners square off against the Bucs.
Nick Bosa -- sacks
Defensive end Nick Bosa has had an amazing start to his career so far.
In his first five seasons, Bosa has won the 2019 Defensive Rookie of the Year award and the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year award. He's also earned four Pro Bowl selections and one first-team All-Pro selection.
In 2024, he has a chance to do something noteworthy to add to his illustrious young career.
Currently, Bosa has 58 sacks in his career. That puts him at No. 6 on the 49ers' all-time sack list (including pre-1982 leaders). With four more sacks, Bosa could jump to No. 5, and with nine more sacks, he could move into No. 4, passing Hall of Famer Charles Haley.
Bosa only has 4.5 sacks so far in 2024. But with rest from a much-needed bye week after a tough first half of the season, he could see his sack numbers back to midseason form.
