The San Francisco 49ers got bounced from the playoffs by the Seattle Seahawks and then had the misfortune of having to watch Seattle win the Super Bowl on their home turf in Levi’s Stadium just a few weeks later.Â
Now, San Francisco has to do the hard work of trying to close the gap with Seattle this offseason. One of the best ways they can do that is to poach some players from Seattle who will be free agents soon.
Let’s take a look at three Seahawks the Niners should make a run at.
Rashid Shaheed
One of the best moves Seattle made last season was to acquire speedy wide receiver Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints. While they already had great receivers in Cooper Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, they knew having a burner would give their offense an element it was missing.
Last season, Shaheed had 59 receptions for 687 yards and two touchdowns. In the playoffs, he had three catches for 78 yards. However, he is also one of the most explosive kick and punt returners in the NFL, as the Niners found out the hard way in their divisional-round bout with Seattle.
Shaheed is always going to be a limited part of Seattle’s offense with Kupp and Smith-Njigba ahead of him on the depth chart, but if the speedy specialist joined the Niners, he could potentially have a bigger role.
San Francisco needs speed and a deep threat to make the offense more dynamic, and Shaheed would be a perfect fit to make that a reality.Â
Coby Bryant
The Niners got some shaky play from their safeties this season. Malik Mustapha was not as impressive as he was in his rookie season, which partly may have had to do with him coming off an injury. Rookie Marcus Sigle started off strong but was replaced by a resurgent Ji’Ayir Brown midseason.
San Francisco needs more playmakers in the secondary, which is why Coby Bryant could be a great player to poach from Seattle. Bryant has seven interceptions over the last two seasons and has also forced a fumble each of the last three years.
He could definitely help create more turnovers on defense.
Chazz Surratt
San Francisco had to dig deep at the linebacker position in 2025. They suffered so many injuries there, so it would not be a bad idea to get some more depth going forward.
Chazz Surratt is not an elite linebacker by any stretch, but he could be a nice depth piece. He has just 48 combined tackles across five NFL seasons, but he played under Robert Saleh in New York, so he has an understanding of the style of defense San Francisco wants to run even under new defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.
He even had a brief stint with the 49ers in the 2025 preseason but ultimately did not make the final roster cuts.
The Niners have to get better this offseason, and by poaching these three Seahawks players, they would be off to a great start.Â
