Former NFL quarterback predicts 49ers' offense is going to 'explode' in 2026

Let's hope he's right.

When the San Francisco 49ers were at their best last season, their offense was absolutely humming. Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel now breaks down quarterbacks in his post-playing days, and he is very bullish on the Niners going into next season.

Daniel, who played for a number of different teams in his NFL career as a backup, broke down some Niners film from last year and was really impressed with what Brock Purdy can do when he gets out of the pocket and gets creative:

He broke down the play of Purdy against the Chicago Bears when he juked out two defenders before finding fullback Kyle Juszczyk in the end zone for a touchdown and then hit the Dougie. It was probably Purdy’s best moment of the season, and it was a reminder of just how dangerous he can be when he gets out of the pocket.

Daniel is clearly high on the Niners, which isn’t surprising because so many former NFL quarterbacks, except for one who really just seems to be more of a troll these days, have been complimentary of Purdy.

Even though Purdy has never been the biggest guy or had the strongest arm, it’s always clear he has the brain to play the quarterback position and also has the guts.

That play against Chicago was all guts. He had to use every trick up his sleeve to get that done, and it wasn’t a half bad effort for a guy who was dealing with a turf-toe injury for much of last season.

Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, and Joe Montana, among many others, have always been high on Purdy and what he is capable of doing at quarterback. People who actually have played that position and know what it takes to be an NFL quarterback understand Purdy has the goods.

Daniel is obviously nowhere near those other players, but it’s yet another reminder that people who study the film and watch what Purdy does almost always come away impressed by him.

Giving Purdy a new toy to play with in wide receiver Mike Evans is exciting because that duo could prove to be lethal for other teams next season. Of course, the fear is both guys may struggle to stay on the field since they were both banged up for much of last season.

We’ll have to see if Purdy has better luck on the injury front next season, but if he does and Evans can remain healthy, then expect Daniel’s prediction for an explosive 49ers offense to come true.
