Sourdough Sam certainly kept himself busy leading up to the Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium last February. But, now taking on a bigger role with the San Francisco 49ers' mobile community, he suddenly finds himself at the center of a newly re-disgned app.
One from the franchise and for the fans.
In a partnership with PwC, the Niners franchise has wholly overhauled its mobile app, bringing a new and exciting experience for fans of the red and gold from across the globe.
For starters, beginning on April 9, fans can check out San Francisco's brand-new commemorative 80th anniversary logo in the app before it begins populating across the 49ers' other media sites thereafter.
But there's much, much more.
49ers' new mobile app has a ton of cool new features (Sourdough Sam approves)
Sourdough Sam won't be left out, of course. He's featured as the app's AI host, helping fans with all queries related to the Niners.
In addition, the new app will feature the following:
- NEW: Available in Spanish – first time ever the 49ers App has been available in multiple languages
- NEW: “For You” News Page – personalized content feed based on user’s favorite players
- NEW: Incentives and Rewards – users can collect badges for completing tasks, consistent use, etc.
- NEW: Niners Network – users can find close-by events, fan chapters, and more
All this, in addition to the current services the app provides, such as schedules, news and more.
"Providing the Faithful with an innovative fan experience, no matter where they are located around the world, is one of our top priorities as an organization," said 49ers Chief Marketing Officer Stephanie Rogers in a press release provided by the team to Niner Noise. "Our new 49ers App is meant to take that experience to the next level.
"As we celebrate our 80th anniversary, we are thrilled to unveil a platform that will more closely connect our fans to each other and the team. Today is an exciting day for us and we look forward to unveiling new features that will be built into this platform with our fans’ feedback."
What's also cool is how fans can connect with Faithful communities across the country and around the globe, bringing the greater fanbase together in ways never before possible.
Fans will be able to consider the new app a customizable one-stop destination for all things Niners, and it'll be a tremendous asset for those in attendance at Levi's Stadium as well as the Faithful rooting from around the globe.
Be sure to check out the app wherever you download apps to your smart devices.
