It would have been reasonable to predict All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett and the vaunted Cleveland Browns' pass rush teeing off on quarterback Brock Purdy and a suspect San Francisco 49ers offensive line amid the wind-swept conditions at Huntington Bank Field in Week 13.
After all, Purdy and bad weather historically haven't gotten along, and Garrett's NFL-leading 18 sacks certainly loomed as a massive threat entering Sunday's tilt. And Cleveland's 10-sack effort the week prior against the Las Vegas Raiders was, well... downright scary.
Yet the Niners managed to keep Garrett in check, limiting him to just one sack over the course of the 26-8 victory.
It's a line few could have predicted, especially at the record-setting pace Garrett is having this season.
Despite being a regular menace, Garrett subsequently paid respect to both Purdy and his protectors for a commendable effort throughout the course of the game, thereby calling out one of the quarterback's best strengths.
Myles Garrett pays deserved compliment to Brock Purdy, 49ers
On one pressure where Purdy managed to evade the edge rusher's chase, Garrett was seen joking with the quarterback immediately thereafter; both players smiling and bumping fists after the failed would-be sack.
"He said something like, ‘C'mon, man,'" Purdy responded when asked about his interaction with Garrett. "And I was like, ‘I'm sorry, bro.'"
Garrett was far more complimentary during his postgame presser.
"There seemed like a lot of ops with how close it was, but he likes getting out on time, or he sees me," Garrett said of Purdy. "Credit to him, he also avoided the rush pretty well, too. So him getting the ball out on time, them having a solid unit as well, chipping, those kind of things, they were doing what they do best."

Despite notching the lone sack, it appears Garrett is fully aware of Purdy's ability to evade pressure and extend plays outside the pocket, which the quarterback did to a great extent throughout all four quarters.
With a little bit of help, of course. Garrett pointed out the blockers' efforts, too.
