The San Francisco 49ers did not make any huge additions to their wide receiver room this offseason. The one notable move they made was signing Demarcus Robinson, and thus far it seems he and quarterback Brock Purdy are establishing a good chemistry.
At OTA practice, the connection between Purdy and Robinson was one of the key highlights. There is video below of San Francisco's freshly signed franchise quarterback throwing an absolute dime to the former Los Angeles Ram.

Last season with the Rams, Robinson hauled in 31 receptions for 505 yards and seven touchdowns, both career highs. On paper, he seems like he could be a perfect fit for what San Francisco tries to do on offense.
Of course, these are just OTAs so we should not overreact to anything, but it is nonetheless a positive sign that Purdy is establishing a connection with his new pass catcher.
After the departure of Deebo Samuel and the team's relative inaction to address the wide receiver position in the offseason, the door has been opened for massive problems to arise.
San Francisco still has Jauan Jennings as their No. 1 wide receiver going into next season. However, Ricky Pearsall is already banged up and it is unclear when Brandon Aiyuk will be able to return to action after his knee injury last year.
To complicate matters further, Robinson may end up being suspended by the NFL for the first few games of the 2025 season due to a DUI he had last year.
San Francisco could really be handcuffed in the wide receiver department early in the season. They may have to lean heavily on young players like Jacob Cowing, Terique Owens, and 2025 draftee Jordan Watkins.
That is a lot of relative inexperience to be relying on, so the team is really going to need to get Robinson back if he does end up having to serve a suspension. The team obviously still has tight end George Kittle so it is not like Purdy will have no one to throw to, but with fewer weapons on the field opposing teams can direct more attention to Jennings and Kittle.
Robinson may not be available for Purdy for the first few games of the season, but when he returns let's hope the chemistry they are establishing in OTAs carries over and leads to success in regular season action.
