49ers solve their most glaring roster woes in latest 3-round mock NFL Draft

This would be an ideal draft haul.

It's rare to find an offseason where teams don't exactly have a ton of work to do to either maintain or improve a current roster.

Perhaps the lone exception is the San Francisco 49ers' chief rival, the Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks, who appear pretty much set for the long run after dominating both the Niners and New England Patriots in the playoffs.

Now, San Francisco's task entering 2026 is to try figuring out how to get into the kind of class where the Hawks are at now while tackling other pressing needs that general manager John Lynch and Co. can't afford to avoid.

Case in point, the 49ers' wide receiver room is potentially threadbare next season with the oft-injured Ricky Pearsall and veteran journeyman Demarcus Robinson as the lone two established options under contract.

Thankfully, there's the 2026 NFL Draft.

Picking at No. 27 overall, Lynch could go in one of several different directions in Round 1, yet the talent needs across the board indicate he'll have options.

And that's how FanSided's Cody Williams saw things in his recent three-round mock draft.

49ers secure biggest needs in FanSided's post-Super Bowl 3-round mock draft

Round 1 (No. 27 overall): WR Denzel Boston, Washington

Round 2 (No. 58 overall): EDGE Joshua Josephs, Tennessee

Round 3 (No. 92 overall): LB Jacob Rodriguez, Texas Tech

Boston is a name who has already come up in Niner Noise mocks, and it's hard not to see him as a natural fit in head coach Kyle Shanahan's system.

Here's what Williams had to say about San Francisco's selection here, and it all pretty much makes perfect sense:

Brandon Aiyuk is likely gone, Jauan Jennings could be, too, and we don't know when George Kittle will be back healthy for the 49ers. Translation: San Francisco is going to need more weapons for Brock Purdy to throw to. Personally, I'd draft Denzel Boston higher than this. He's not going to be a workout warrior by any means, but he's a damn good receiver with elite body control, hands, and the ability to win against man coverage despite not being a burner. He'll be great in Shahanan's offense.

Not only would Boston aid in boosting the 49ers' depleted pass-catching corps, but he might be the perfect weapon to finally get beyond the Seahawks' defensive hump over the next few years.

Diving deeper, and after the Niners ranked dead last in the NFL with just 20 sacks, grabbing Josephs in Round 2 would be a steal. An impressive wingspan and quick first step should translate to better production at the pro level, especially if he doesn't have to be "the guy" in a pass rush. So, with San Francisco looking at both Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams returning from ACL tears in 2026, Josephs would have time to develop into an every down edge setter.

And while the Rodriguez selection might be shocking to some, especially with needs at safety and the offensive line, a lack of depth behind All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner has to be addressed.

Plus, Rodriguez would be a seamless fit in defensive coordinator Raheem Morris' five-man "penny" fronts.
