Warmer temperatures stretching across Northern California in September and into October are nothing new, and that's one of the reasons why the San Francisco 49ers have traditionally requested away or night games over the first few weeks of the season.

That way, fans and players won't have to bask in the hottish early-autumn sun at Levi's Stadium.

The Niners got lucky with their opening two home games in Weeks 2 and 3, enjoying favorable mild weather with reasonable temperatures throughout the games.

It appears that luck will run out in Week 4's showdown against the visiting Denver Broncos, though.

49ers vs. Broncos likely to feature near-record highs at Levi's Stadium

According to NFL weather, which traditionally slides to the lower end of the temperature-prediction scale, the temperature at kickoff will be 87 degrees with a high of 89 somewhere during the third quarter.

There'll also be northwesterly winds of five miles per hour, but that might not be much of a relief.

Other sites, such as Accuweather, predict a 94-degree temperature at kickoff.

If the latter winds up being true, it could threaten the current record for the hottest game played at Levi's Stadium: Oct. 6, 2024, in a loss to the Cardinals where temperatures reached 99 degrees at halftime.

"Show up. Play football. Get an IV," tight end George Kittle told reporters when asked about the impending heat wave.

If there's some moderately good news, the temperature is impartial. It'll impact both sides equally, although the eastern side of the field where the visitors sit is hit much harder by the sun than San Francisco's sidelines.

Fans on that side of Levi's Stadium will be hit hard, too.

Either way, everyone there will want to hydrate and do their best to stay cool.
