The San Francisco 49ers have started the season 2-0, but it hasn't been without it's costs. The injury bug has already hit the Niners, with the receiver room taking some of the biggest hits. First, De'Zhaun Stribling went down in the season opener in Australia, and now Demarcus Robinson is looking at missed time.
Given the strength of the depth chart, here's three concrete reasons the Niners will be fine.
The 49ers boast a strong core of players that fans have been cheering on for years, and to their great benefit, some of those players have been the best in the game.
49ers still have answers across the offense
George Kittle and Kyle Juszczyk stand as some of the most effective players in the game. They've both been strong pieces of the Kyle Shanahan offense for years, and they both just passed a pretty impressive milestone, and in the same game, no less.
Kittle and Juszczyk both caught a 49ers touchdown pass in 10 straight seasons. The receivers room may look a bit thin on the ground right now, but with these two giving Brock Purdy options, all is not lost.
Then there's the receivers who are still standing. The 49ers brought in Mike Evans this season, and though he may not be in his early 20s, there's no denying how effective he can be in space. The return of Deebo Samuel Sr. now also stands as an important return, and his familiarity with the Shanahan offense could give him a leg up over Evans.
The 49ers also just added Brandin Cooks to add to their already impressive roster of veterans.
Finally, there's Purdy himself. He's been electric this season, and he's seemingly showing himself as the most accurate quarterback in the game so far. Through two games to start the season, Purdy has completed 45 of 56 passes, giving him an overall completion percentage of 80.4.
That's the best in the NFL at present. He's also among the league's highest in passer rating, with a 125.6. The 26 year old quarterback has been nothing short of impressive so far this season.
Injuries hit every NFL team. It doesn't matter if it's Week 1, and you're losing your top draft selection, or if it's the playoffs and you're losing your star tight end. It comes for them all. The thing that truly makes the difference is how a franchise handles the fallout in the interim. It's easy to panic when you see a player down on the field, or being carted off to the locker room.
Robinson and Stribling will be missed, especially when the receiving corps is thin. But Purdy has enough proven options to keep the offense moving.
