San Francisco 49ers owner and former CEO Jed York was arrested over the weekend in East Palestine, Ohio, according to several media outlets and shared by the Bay Area's KRON4.
According to the news release, York was arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution and subsequently pleaded no contest to the charges after being booked into Columbiana County Jail.
KRON4 also shared the following element of the arrest and charges, further describing the nature of the alleged incident:
The State of Ohio amended the one count of engaging in prostitution to a disorderly conduct charge before York pleaded no contest on Monday. He was also convicted of possessing criminal tools. ...
A judge sentenced York to one day in jail per each count, which were served concurrently, and ordered him to pay a $150 fine under the disorderly conduct conviction and a $1,000 fine for possessing criminal tools. A court transaction statement showed the fines have been paid.
It appears as if York's time in jail has subsequently come to an end, and his associated fines have been paid as well.
News of the alleged incident and subsequent arrest leaked out early Monday morning ahead of the Niners' third and final preseason game before September's regular season commences.
York and his family hails from Youngstown, Ohio, so San Francisco's owner spending time within the state isn't a surprise. The 49ers have frequently had stopovers in Ohio when playing back-to-back East Coast road games, too.
Currently, the Niners franchise hasn't responded or openly discussed York's arrest.
