T.O. certainly was not afraid to go there.

Legendary San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Terrell Owens has never been one to hold back or bite his tongue. Staying true to that reputation, he recently made some bold comments about former Niners wide receiver Deebo Samuel's weight.

The Hall of Fame inductee made the comments in a video that was shared on social media and can be viewed below:

In the video, Owens says when prompted on Deebo's purported weight issues, "He is fat. He ain't big boned… He about two chicken nuggets from tipping the scale. Deebo's my guy tho. I love Deebo."

T.O. keeping it classy as ever.

It does seem like Owens was just joking around a little bit in a video that was light-hearted and jovial. However, his comments do speak to a narrative that is out there surrounding Samuel whether fair or not.

Samuel said that his actual weight was higher than his listed weight last season. Tim Kawakami of the San Francisco Standard also reported that Deebo was nearly 20 pounds overweight in 2024.

A viral video of Samuel looking slow at practice with the Washington Commanders gained some traction recently. However, 49ers tight end George Kittle came to Deebo's defense and said that players do not run at full speed during those kinds of practices.

It is understandable why this discussion is happening since Samuel's numbers did decline in his final season with San Francisco. He hauled in 51 receptions for 670 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a high-profile drop after demanding he get the ball more which did not help matters.

Nonetheless, there seems to be no bad blood between he and the 49ers which is a good thing because Samuel had some truly memorable moments with the Niners and was a joy to watch when he was at his peak.

Now, he has a chance to start fresh in Washington with the Commanders. While it is unfortunate that this narrative about his weight and how in shape he is has dogged him thus far, he has an opportunity to go out and prove all of the haters wrong this season.

Who knows, maybe he can even use Owens' remarks as some motivation to prove to everyone that he still has good football left in him no matter what the narrative surrounding him is.
