The San Francisco 49ers' 2025 campaign has already been defined by, yes, you guessed it: injuries. Despite a phenomenal 4-1 start to the season, San Francisco has once again been bitten by the injury bug, and it seems like no one is immune.
With George Kittle already on the short-term Injured Reserve and Nick Bosa out for the year, the 49ers were also without Brock Purdy, Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall and a handful of other key depth players for their Week 5 matchup on Thursday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams.
An early spot atop the NFC West division was on the line in primetime, and the 49ers were able to leave SoFi Stadium with a hard-earned win. They didn't leave the game completely healthy, however, because it's the Niners, and they never do.
49ers lost two more defensive lineman in TNF win over Rams
On Thursday night, two more 49ers defensive linemen were ruled out with injuries. Defensive tackle Kalia Davis left the game early with a hand injury, and versatile defensive lineman Yetur Gross-Matos also exited with a hamstring injury.
There is no real update on the severity of either ailment, but hopefully, these are short-term setbacks. Thankfully, San Francisco has 10 full days to recover before another tough NFC matchup against the 3-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they'll need both players to be healthy for the contest.
San Francisco's defensive trenches are already thinned with Bosa, Kevin Givens and Tarron Jackson all on the injured reserve. If the team is without Davis and Gross-Matos as well, it will be tough sledding against a strong Buccaneers offensive line.

Players like Sam Okuayinonu, Alfred Collins and C.J. West will need to step up even more than they already have alongside Bryce Huff, Jordan Elliott and Mykel Williams if this unit wants to stay afloat in Week 6.
The health of backup quarterback Mac Jones is also something to monitor, as he looked incredibly beat up at several junctures in the game and went down really hard at one point, which spurred the medical staff to enter the field.
Reports were that he was just cramping, and 49ers fans hope that's all it was. 49ers fans hope the same as it pertains to Gross-Matos and Davis, whose health will be paramount to San Francisco starting another win streak when they take the field next week in Tampa Bay.
