Takeaway No. 4: 49ers no closer to dealing Trey Lance
Merely hours before the NFL Draft kicked off, CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson said the Niners had no imminent deals available for quarterback Trey Lance.
She did mention, however, the Texans could potentially be in play:
But, once Houston moved up to No. 3 overall, it pretty much eliminated any thought of Lance being dealt to the AFC South.

Honestly, Lance wasn’t going to command a first-round pick in itself. Not after spending almost all of 2022 with a broken ankle and having only four regular-season starts under his belt.
Day two is another possibility, of course, but the chances of Lance being moved still remain awfully low.
Round 1 just reinforced that, while Rounds 2 and 3 kick off on Friday, April 28.
