49ers NFL Draft sleeper target No. 8: WR Kayshon Boutte, LSU

Sticking with the theme of LSU players for a moment, wide receiver Kayshon Boutte could have been heading toward a first-round selection back in 2021 before suffering a serious injury that surely impacted his overall ability last year.

That said, Boutte has arguably some of the best route-running techniques of this year’s receiving class, and his playmaking ability is also equivalent to a first-round prospect.

But Boutte is going to fall in the draft for two reasons: injuries and drops.

The Niners have had issues with both among their wide receivers, so it’s feasible they steer clear of Boutte even if he falls deep into day three of the draft.

However, should head coach Kyle Shanahan want to take a flier on someone who could complement both Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel at wide receiver, Boutte could easily deliver if he winds up being that day-three sleeper.
