On the clock: NFL Draft Pick No. 24: Jacksonville Jaguars – Kelee Ringo, Cornerback, Georgia

Mock Draft 1.0 – Cam Smith, Cornerback, South Carolina

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a team on the rise, but something has to be done about a cornerback position that needed upgrading even before they chose not to bring back Shaq Griffin.

Kelee Ringo is a cornerback with excellent physical abilities. He has prototypical size at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, and he has exceptional speed with good strength for the next level. Ringo wowed the Combine with his 40-yard time, and he could go a lot higher than this.

In 2022, Ringo recorded two interceptions and seven passes defended for Georgia as the team won a second consecutive national championship. For the NFL, Ringo is a press corner, jamming receivers and using his speed to run with them.

Ringo would be a lot higher as a prospect, but he does have some serious issues at the next level. He’s very scheme specific and isn’t suited to a zone-based system. While he is fast, he does play a bit stiff in the hips and can struggle with changes of direction that can be exploited in zone coverage.

Teams will need to make sure he doesn’t get exploited by agile receivers, but when he’s in his element, he’s a very dangerous player in the secondary.
