Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans will always be the potential olive branch for the 49ers. Not only for his relationship with management but also for his ties with the players.

Then, of course, you would have to address the elephant in the room by stating that the Texans aren’t exactly blessed with proven talent at the quarterback position.

Coach Ryans knows first-hand how talented and fearless Brock Purdy is. Not just from a game perspective, but he’s had plenty of interaction with him on a personal level as well.

The Texans have 12 picks in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. That also makes them the favorite to land a deal for Purdy in a “what if” scenario such as this. They own five picks in the first three rounds, with two of them coming in the first round alone. They own the second pick overall and No. 12 overall, too.

Purdy had a great season and he is the real deal thus far, but he’s not going to net a first-rounder. However, with the Texans owning two first-round picks, they may be OK with letting go of a second-rounder and a combination of other picks throughout the draft.

The Niners get picks that they are sorely lacking in this year’s draft, and Coach Ryans gets a  quarterback whom he can build a team around.
