Jimmy Garoppolo should sign with one of these 5 teams in NFL free agency
No. 1: There’s an opening with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jimmy Garoppolo could seamlessly fit in
What a story this could be: “Jimmy Garoppolo, Tampa Bay Buccaneers agree to a multi-year deal.”
Tampa Bay has been a rumored destination for Garoppolo since Tom Brady went there in 2020. With the latter now retired, there could be more reason for Garoppolo to head to the sunshine state.
If wide receiver Mike Evans, who’s set to be a free agent in 2024, decides to stick around, the Jimmy G to Evans connection would be unreal. Evans has hit over 1,000 receiving yards in nine straight seasons. Despite scoring only six touchdowns last year, his yards per catch were the best in three years, while his receptions (77) were the most they’ve been since 2018 (86.)
The Buccaneers are ready to see what backup quarterback Kyle Trask can bring to the table. They also have a new offensive coordinator in Dave Canales, who was previously with the Seattle Seahawks.

Canales brings more of a run-first mindset to the offense, which is something Garoppolo is used to under Kyle Shanahan.
Tampa Bay is in a bit of a bind with the salary cap, though. So if Garoppolo wants to play there, he’ll most likely have to take less money than he wants.
Wherever Jimmy G ends up, however, there’s hardly any doubt he’ll succeed.
But it’s finally time he and the 49ers move on and start fresh in 2023.
