Crazy 49ers trade No. 2: Brock Purdy

If Trey Lance isn’t moved, what about moving Brock Purdy?

It seems silly on the surface, especially considering what Purdy did over the latter half of 2022 and into the playoffs. But, if one does look at the money and all the assets put into drafting Lance, Purdy won’t be the long-term solution.

That’ll go to Lance, who also has the advantage of being the healthiest out of the two. That’ll matter when it comes to offseason workouts.

True, the Niners can’t trade Purdy when he’s injured. But they still do have an asset on their hands.

Once healthy, provided Lance is playing well enough, other teams would assuredly be calling San Francisco about Purdy’s availability.

Assuming Purdy isn’t ready to start by the regular season, having him as a midseason trade chip might be quite the move to pull off.
