49ers NFL Scouting Combine: EDGE Nick Bosa (2019)

San Francisco knew Ohio State EDGE Nick Bosa was going to be special despite him coming off an abdominal injury that cut short his final collegiate season in 2018.

The only question is whether or not the top-drafting Arizona Cardinals would take him or quarterback Kyler Murray at No. 1 overall.

Bosa’s outstanding NFL Combine workouts ultimately didn’t change Arizona’s mind, and the 49ers ended up benefiting in a massive way from the prospect who’d eventually become the NFL Defensive Player of the Year only a few years later.

  • 40-yard dash: 4.79 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 33.5 inches
  • Broad jump: 9 feet, 8 inches
  • 3-cone drill: 7.1 seconds
  • 20-yard shuttle: 4.14 seconds
  • Bench press: 29 reps

Selected behind Murray at No. 2 overall, Bosa has now emerged as one of the league’s best year-after-year defenders, and it wasn’t hard to see that projection come out following his NFL Combine performance.
