49ers NFL Scouting Combine: DL Arik Armstead (2015)

Rewinding back a substantial length of time, many a scouting report on Oregon defensive tackle Arik Armstead suggested he “wasn’t quite yet the sum of his parts.”

Fast-forward to the current regime under general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan, and Armstead is one of the more critical pieces of the 49ers’ defensive line even if the stats don’t always suggest so.

Armstead’s combine highlighted the raw traits but also focused on the refinement needed:

  • 40-yard dash: 5.1 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 34 inches
  • Broad jump: 9 feet, 9 inches
  • 3-cone drill: 7.57 seconds
  • 20-yard shuttle: 4.53 seconds
  • Bench press: 24 reps

One of the few players retained by Shanahan and Lynch, Armstead remains a significant part of that defense and a locker-room leader.
