Why didn’t Deebo Samuel receive a clap-back from Eagles’ A.J. Brown?

Deebo Samuel didn’t mince words about the Eagles, and neither did JuJu Smith-Schuster. But Philly wide receiver A.J. Brown only responded to one of the two.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster definitely has a reputation for overflowing a bit on social media.

It’s nothing new. Dating back to his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and now carrying through his time with the Super Bowl-winning Chiefs, Smith-Schuster definitely has a social media profile worth following.

If for no other reason than to see what lines he might cross next.

San Francisco 49ers All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel, meanwhile, can say some spicy things on social media, too, and he didn’t hesitate to make some comments about the Philadelphia Eagles, who beat the Niners in the NFC Championship game but ultimately fell short in the Super Bowl against KC.

At one point, Samuel even referred to Philly cornerback James Bradberry as “trash.”

Understandably, some Philadelphia players took exception to comments made in the wake of the Eagles’ Super Bowl loss, including Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown.

But Brown didn’t call out Samuel after what he said.

No, Brown called out Smith-Schuster.

A.J. Brown claps back at JuJu Smith-Schuster, not Deebo Samuel

From a pure entertainment standpoint, Smith-Schuster’s tweet about that late fourth-quarter play where Bradberry was flagged for holding the Kansas City wideout is pretty epic.

Admit it, unless you’re a Philly fan, you laughed at Smith-Schuster posting a Valentine’s Day pic of Bradberry while referencing the hold:

Brown, however, took a pretty big exception to Smith-Schuster’s tweet but tried handling it in as professional a way as possible.

Leading off with a well-deserved congratulations, of course, but it’s hard not to smile at the cynical nature of it after reading what Brown said thereafter:

Brown did not, however, clap back at Samuel despite the latter’s comments about Bradberry.

Why?

Well, you’d have to ask Brown that. And a number of Philadelphia players and coaches have already spoken about Samuel’s words already, so perhaps, Brown didn’t feel the need to continue barking back.

More likely, though, Brown and Samuel both share the same representing agent, and the two are friends outside of the league as well.

From that vantage point, one might guess Brown didn’t necessarily like what Samuel had to say but also wasn’t going to call out his friend publicly.

Perhaps the two have already shared private words on the matter.

Not tweets, though.
