The San Francisco 49ers were represented at this year’s NFL Honors by Nick Bosa who won Defensive Player of the Year.

One of the most telegraphed pieces of NFL postseason hardware has been the belief that San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa would be crowned Defensive Player of the Year when all was said and done. That prediction proved true on Thursday night at the 12th annual NFL Honors program.

Hosted by Kelly Clarkson, this year’s NFL Honors was a two-hour primetime program intended to celebrate the league’s best players and biggest achievements. Bosa was named the Defensive Player of the Year for the first time in his young career, a major achievement for a 25-year-old pass rusher with a potential path toward Canton.

Bosa led the league with 18.5 sacks this season, giving him the edge (pun intended) over other competitors like Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys and Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs. Bosa also had 56 pressures, 48 quarterback hits, and 2 forced fumbles this season for the Niners.

Even at his young age, Bosa is now a three-time Pro Bowler who was also voted at No. 25 on the NFL’s Top 100 players in 2022.
