49ers 2024 Pro Bowl lock No. 2: Running back Christian McCaffrey

One could make the argument that San Francisco’s prospects for making the 2023 postseason changed entirely after adding former Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey just prior to the 2022 trade deadline.

After all, the 49ers were struggling to get beyond 20 points per game up to that point. Despite the Niners losing McCaffrey’s first game in uniform, the subsequent win streak that lasted all the way up to the NFC Championship game says a lot.

And McCaffrey had a lot to do with that.

It’s safe to say he was a perfect fit in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense, and his 1,210 all-purpose yards and 10 touchdowns merely in a San Francisco uniform speak to his value.

That value will carry over again, as McCaffrey will be just as important to Shanahan’s offense in 2023.
