49ers prospect No. 1: Cornerback Julius Brents, Kansas State

The 49ers invested in the cornerback room last offseason by adding Charvarius Ward, but they’re also poised to need another corner to place on the opposite side of the boundary, especially if Emmanuel Moseley departs in free agency and/or isn’t fully recovered from last season’s ACL tear.

Re-signing Moseley should be the first priority, but going after a big-bodied boundary cornerback wouldn’t be a bad use of a first pick at all.

Enter Kansas State’s Julius Brents.

At 6-foot-3 and 202 pounds, Brents put on a good showing in one-on-one drills during practice week, and that’ll certainly up his NFL Draft stock to the point where he’ll be a safe day-two pick.

As is the case for the Niners at wide receiver, there’s a need for some quality depth.

Especially if that depth winds up developing into a starting-caliber option, and Brents could check off a lot of those boxes.

The 2023 Senior Bowl kicks off from Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama, on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2:30 p.m. ET.
