George Kittle had a little fun after Christian McCaffrey scored SF 49ers’ first TD

The story of the San Francisco 49ers’ first half against the Dallas Cowboys was missed opportunities.

Sure, they got on the scoreboard three times, but each came as a result of Robbie Gould’s foot rather than something the rest of the offense did.

That changed one play into the fourth quarter when running back Christian McCaffrey punched it in up the middle from 2 yards out to put the 49ers up 16-9.

That completed a 10-play, 90 yard drive by the 49ers. That was much needed after the first-half struggle. While the Niners led 9-6 after the first half, it was … not the most beautiful of halves.

The offense racked up just 141 yards, or 4.4 yards per play in the half.

Naturally George Kittle, who’d had big moment after big moment on the drive, had a little more fun, grabbing McCaffrey’s colossal spike and handing the ball to 49ers great Jerry Rice.

That was Kittle’s third big moment of the drive.

He started off with an amazing one-handed catch for 30 yards that got the 49ers to midfield.

Then he drew a holding penalty that helped offset a sack of Brock Purdy that would otherwise have killed all the momentum the 49ers had going.

Not just a treasure, but …

OK, well, you get the point.

The second half is going much better than the first.
