The 49ers won’t be experiencing inclement NFL weather when they host the Cowboys for the divisional round of the NFL playoffs on Sunday.

California is generally known for having excellent year-round weather, which makes it one of the most desirable places to live in the country.

Just don’t tell that to folks living in Northern California over the last few weeks.

Granted, the state has been experiencing a major drought over the past number of years, so any rain is a welcomed sight.

We only wish it was spread out a bit more and wouldn’t impact our rituals of watching football on game day.

NFL weather impacted the San Francisco 49ers’ Wild Card matchup against the Seattle Seahawks a week ago, yet the Niners managed to survive a sluggish first half to finish with a commanding 41-23 victory at Levi’s Stadium.

That game was in the middle of all the nasty weather hitting Northern California, which included heavy rain, high winds and even tornadoes hitting the interior of the state away from the coasts.

With San Francisco now poised to host its longtime rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, at least the NFL weather is projected to be awfully pleasant for the divisional round of the playoffs.

NFL weather: Forecast for 49ers vs. Cowboys appears to be excellent

For the two teams on the field, as well as fans attending Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium, the weather at this point in January couldn’t be much better.

The predicted forecast at kickoff on Sunday, Jan. 22 is for clear skies and temperatures of 56 degrees. There will be some north-northwesterly wind at 11 miles per hour, which could impact both teams’ kicking games (ahem, Cowboys kicker Brett Maher) to a point.

But, with zero percent chance of precipitation, at least neither squad will have to worry too much about slopping field conditions and slippery footballs.

Fans won’t have to worry about bringing that extra rain gear to the tailgates outside of Levi’s Stadium either.

The 49ers and Cowboys kick off their divisional-round matchup on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
