49ers vs. Seahawks: 3 players that will stand out on Saturday
No. 2: 49ers S Talanoa Hufanga
Second-year safety Talanoa Hufanga has been amazing in his first year as a starter for the 49ers.
Hufanga has been a playmaker against the run as well as in coverage this season, earning him his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections.
Against Seattle in the first game this season, he had two passes defenses, five solo tackles and one tackle for a loss.
In the second game of the season against Seattle, Hufanga had one pass defended, one sack, four solo tackles and one forced fumble.
Although he didn’t have any interceptions in those two games against Seattle, he still had four interceptions on the year.
Defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans recently made the comment that Hufanga needs to “clean up his eyes…” meaning he should be more patient and not bite on play actions that cause him to get beat in coverage. As he got caught looking in the backfield a number of times in the past.
Look for Hufanga to take that advice to heart. Although he likely will not give up his aggressive run-stopping tendencies completely, he will be more patient when defending against the pass.
Heeding that advice should allow Hufanga to get his first interception since Week 10, and the first in his playoff career.
