No. 2: Detroit Lions

The Lions, unlike the Packers, are not masters of their own destiny en route to the playoffs. They have to win against the Packers but also need the Seattle Seahawks to lose in their Week 18 game.

The pros of playing against Detroit lie in the fact that this team does not have playoff experience together. Their quarterback Jared Goff may have a couple of playoff wins under his belt, but none with head coach Dan Campbell.

Also, the Lions have the league’s worst defense, allowing 398.7 total yards per game to opposing offenses. This would be a great defense for Purdy to have his first playoff start against.

The cons to playing this Lions team could be the fact that they are currently surging; they’ve gone 7-2 in their last nine games.

Their offense has also looked exceptional, putting up 383.6 total yards per game which put them third in the league in that category. They have explosive players on that offense like running back Jamaal Williams who leads the league with 15 rushing touchdowns, and Amon-Ra St. Brown who has 1,112 receiving yards on the season.

The Lions’ offense could prove difficult even for the stellar defense of the 49ers.
