49ers vs Cardinals Best Bets for Week 18
By Tommy Jaggi
The San Francisco 49ers are gearing up for their final game of the 2022 regular season. Here are the best bets you can make for this NFC West matchup.
After an incredibly sluggish 3-4 start to the 2022 season, the San Francisco 49ers have been the hottest team in the NFL. Kyle Shanahan’s squad has won 9 straight games since Week 8 — their most recent victory coming in overtime fashion over the Las Vegas Raiders.
With a full head of steam and facing one of the league’s worst opponents this week in the Arizona Cardinals, there’s little doubt that Shanahan can make it 10 straight wins to close out the 2022 regular season. San Francisco obviously has a playoff spot locked up and they only have an 8 percent chance of earning a first-round bye, according to FiveThirtyEight.
For those looking to liven things up a bit in what could prove to be a blowout victory in the season finale, here are the best bets you can make for the 49ers vs Cardinals in Week 18.
Best 49ers Bets in Week 18
49ers and Cardinals Combine for OVER 39.5 points (-110)
We were surprised by where oddsmakers set the over/under point total for this game. After what we’ve seen in recent weeks, 39.5 points does not seem like a high bar to clear. San Francisco has scored at least 33 points in 5 of their last 7 games.
While this elite defense is capable of holding the Cardinals scoreless, it’s probably more likely that they narrowly reach double-digit points. The 49ers could rack up the score in this contest if they want to, but at -110 odds via DraftKings Sportsbook, it’s hard not to take the over on the point total in Week 18.
Cardinals UNDER 1.5 Total Touchdowns Scored (-200)
Even when Kyler Murray was healthy, the Arizona Cardinals have been one of the biggest disappointments in football this year. Since deploying backups at the helm, things have hit rock bottom. The Cardinals are scoring just 16 points per game over their previous 6 contests and they haven’t scored two touchdowns in a game since Week 12, per ESPN stats.
The 49ers allowed just 10 points to the Cardinals in their first meeting. Even if Arizona somehow surpasses 14 points in this contest, it will likely be due to several field goals. We feel very confident that DeMeco Ryans’ top-ranked defense will hold a pedestrian Cardinals offense to under two total touchdowns scored. We like them to do so at -200 odds.
49ers Alternate Spread of -8.5 points (-212)
We are very confident that the 49ers will secure a win in their final regular season game, but at -975 odds, it’s hardly worth betting the moneyline. At the same time, a 14-point spread is massive, and we don’t feel completely confident that San Francisco will win by at least that much.
For these reasons, we love the alternate spread of -8.5 for the 49ers this week, via DraftKings Sportsbook. This means that if Kyle Shanahan’s team wins by 9 points or more, you win your bet. At -212 odds, this certainly seems like a safe bet with a reasonable payout.
