The 49ers injury report for Week 18 Friday had some great news about Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel

The question the San Francisco 49ers have faced all week is whether running back Christian McCaffrey would be available for Sunday’s Week 18 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Battling ankle and hamstring injuries, he’d been held out of practice all week.

Question answered: McCaffrey practiced fully on Friday and will suit up to play in a game that could potentially help the 49ers clinch the top seed in the NFC. (Though they need the Eagles to lose for that to happen.)

McCaffrey has been a huge help since coming over to the 49ers ahead of Week 7.

He’s rushed for 1,094 yards on 234 carries for the year and scored eight rushing touchdowns, good for eighth in the league. Across the last five games, he’s averaged nearly 90 yards per contest and scored two TDs on the ground.

He’s also added 707 yards and four receiving touchdowns, including two in the past five games.

That wasn’t the only good news the 49ers shared Friday.

Running back Elijiah Mitchell, who’d been out since Week 12, will come off the injured reserve and get on the field, as will receiver Deebo Samuel.

Samuel last played Week 14 vs Tampa Bay. Samuel has 54 catches this year for 612 yards and two touchdowns.

"“They’ll be up (Samuel, McCaffrey and Mitchell). They’ll be playing,” Shanahan said. (via 49ers.com)"

While Mitchell has been largely off the field this year due to an MCL sprain in the second game of the season, he’ll help add backfield depth along with Tyrion Davis-Price and Jordan Mason.
