8-4. 42. 6-6. 48. 4:25 p.m. ET. Fox. Sunday, Dec. 11. 49ers -3.5

The 49ers host the Buccaneers on Sunday, and these Week 14 prop bets are certainly of interest, including one Niner’s projected rushing totals.

There might not be a lot of offense on Sunday when the San Francisco 49ers host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Levi’s Stadium in Week 14.

For starters, and even though quarterback Tom Brady is an ever-present danger, the Bucs offense has been abysmal over the course of the year, averaging just a shade over 18 points a game and ranking 27th overall in scoring. Boasting the NFL’s worst rushing attack, Tampa Bay probably isn’t going to have any success whatsoever against a Niners defense that ranks not only No. 1 against the run but also is No. 1 in fewest points allowed on the year.

Yet San Francisco is going to be challenged, offensively, too.

The Buccaneers’ own defense is awfully solid. While the 49ers are best in the league in points given up, the Bucs are at No. 5 in that category, and defensive-minded head coach Todd Bowles is going to have all kinds of challenges in store for rookie quarterback Brock Purdy this Sunday.

Purdy, making his first NFL start after the Niners lost quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a serious foot injury last week, played well in his first meaningful action under center, helping San Francisco defeat the Miami Dolphins 33-17.

But, with a full week to anticipate the matchup, Purdy will be in for a different challenge against Brady, Bowles and the Bucs.

You want prop bets, though. Yes, prop bets are fun. Let’s jump to those instead, shall we?

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

49ers vs. Bucs prop bet No. 1: Christian McCaffrey over/under 52.5 rush yards

One of the ways the 49ers want to help Purdy is by taking the pressure off him, and a key means of doing so will be ensuring the ground game is working.

All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey hasn’t been a massive force on the ground, per se, averaging 51.2 rush yards per game with the Niners this season. But, despite Tampa Bay’s defense being a good one, it is somewhat susceptible against the run, as opponents are averaging 4.5 yards per carry here.

The oddsmakers over at DraftKings have the over/under on McCaffrey’s ground yards at 52.5, and the slight favorite is for him to go over at -120. The under is there, too, at -110.

However, thinking San Francisco will want to establish as much of a rushing attack as possible, look for McCaffrey to get the over here.
