Takeaway No. 3: 49ers DC DeMeco Ryans is king of the halftime adjustment

See if you can answer this trivia question without looking it up: How many points have the Niners defense allowed in the second half in their last three games?

Give up? It’s zero. That’s right, zero. Zero, zilch, nil, nothing, nada, bagel, donut, the big fat shutout.

Defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans has been absolutely incredible when it comes to halftime adjustments lately, as the defense has been able to clamp down on absolutely everybody in the second half.

This has allowed the offense to chase down deficits, or in the case of the game against the Cardinals, increase their lead further.

It seems inevitable that Ryans will be a head coach sooner rather than later, or at the very least interview for at least one coaching job for 2023.

The 49ers would be a lot poorer for losing him, but it’s an opportunity he’s more than earned.
