The 49ers travel to Mexico City to be the ‘road team’ against the Cardinals on Monday Night Football, and we’ve got your opening betting odds.

In technical terms, the San Francisco 49ers are the road team when they travel to Mexico City, Mexico, to take on their NFC West rivals, the Arizona Cardinals, for Monday Night Football in Week 11.

But only technically. It’s not as if the Red Birds are known for having a massive following outside of Arizona, and their international presence is nothing like that of the Niners.

The Cardinals do have to feel better after beating the Los Angeles Rams in a divisional Week 10 bout that featured neither of the two teams’ starting quarterbacks, and that might be of interest to San Francisco on Monday night, depending on whether or not quarterback Kyler Murray (hamstring) is fully healthy after missing last Sunday’s contest.

Regardless, this is a neutral site game, yet the 49ers can probably feel pretty confident about having the crowd at Aztec Stadium in their favor, especially going up against an Arizona defense that statistically ranks worse than the Los Angeles Chargers, who gave head coach Kyle Shanahan some fits over the first half of the Niners’ Sunday Night Football victory in Week 10.

Murray and the Cardinals have been historic “thorns” in Shanahan’s side, though, so can San Francisco get the edge over its NFC West rivals south of the border?

49ers vs. Cardinals betting odds Week 10

The oddsmakers over at FanDuel certainly think the 49ers have the upper hand, opening up the spread with the Niners as seven-point “road” favorites despite the game being played at a neutral site.

San Francisco’s opening moneyline is -330, and Arizona’s is +265.

The over/under is 43.5.

49ers vs. Cardinals prediction Week 10

Remember that part about Murray, head coach Kliff Kingsbury and the Cardinals giving Shanahan and Co. fits? Well, Shanahan has gone 3-7 over Arizona since taking over the 49ers’ head-coaching gig back in 2017, and the Cardinals have won three of their last four games, including sweeping the season series in 2021.

Perhaps the trend shifts, though, especially considering the drastic differences between talent, plus the fact the Niners should be getting even healthier after already returning some notable players for their Week 10 win, including running back Elijah Mitchell, who ended up leading San Francisco in rushing against the Bolts despite fellow tailback Christian McCaffrey being the talked-about player.

Let’s go ahead and lead off our predictions for the week by suggesting the 49ers pull off a relatively convincing victory on the road in Mexico City, defeating the Cardinals 27-14.

And, more importantly, getting that crucial fourth victory over an NFC West opponent.

The Niners and Cardinals kick off on Monday, Nov. 21 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
