Stud: Fred Warner

We finish the studs and duds list with one more stud, as linebacker Fred Warner was the pick of the 49ers on defense.

Warner was all over the field, running through gaps and repeatedly stifling the Rams (admittedly half-hearted, given their reliance on the screen pass) forays at rushing the ball and getting a sack on a linebacker blitz.

Warner, along with Nick Bosa, is consistently the best defensive player on the field week in and week out. The Rams have struggled to beat the Niners in recent seasons, and a frequently underrated reason as to why this happens is Warner has a profound effect on the defense that Los Angeles struggles to counter.

Warner finished the game with the aforementioned sack and 12 tackles (five solo, seven assisted), and was able to hold down the linebacking corps that was missing fellow starts Dre Greenlaw and Azeez Al-Shaair.

With the 49ers taking some momentum into the bye, they now have some time to recharge their batteries and get some players back from injuries.

Hopefully, the momentum continues when they return against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10.
