49ers Special Teams and Coaching Grades vs. Rams

Special Teams

Special teams for the 49ers have been a sore sport, but they played well on Sunday.

The kickoffs and punts were covered well, there were no gaffes on the kicks, and Ray-Ray McCloud had his best game returning of the year, gaining positive yards on every decision.

They weren’t all perfect, but it was an aggressiveness San Francisco will take.

Grade: A-

Coaching

The first-half 49ers looked out of touch and out of gas. Kyle Shanahan couldn’t seem to string offensive drives, and Demeco Ryans had no answer for the Rams’ own offensive drives.

But halftime brought new life.
