No. 3: 49ers need to win the fourth quarter vs. Rams

It’s no secret the Niners have had issues putting together a decent offense after halftime, particularly in the fourth quarter.

There are likely many reasons for this, but one could argue San Francisco’s two recent losses stemmed from the team completely falling apart in the fourth and final frame of regulation. And the numbers back up head coach Kyle Shanahan’s struggles here.

As far as fourth-quarter scoring is concerned, the 49ers rank 18th in the league with an average of just 5.7 points.

That’s not great. But Los Angeles is notably worse.

The Rams enter this contest averaging a mere 1.7 points in the fourth quarter, which is next to last and only a shade above the lowly Tennessee Titans offense, which is averaging a single point in the fourth quarter.

Back in Week 4, the Niners held LA off the scoreboard in the fourth quarter while putting up 10 points of their own.

Anything similar to that output likely gives San Francisco the victory here.

Both teams square off on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 4:25 p.m. ET from SoFI Stadium.
