Fantasy football start ’em: RB Jeff Wilson Jr.

On the surface, owners probably would think twice about starting running back Jeff Wilson Jr. in Week 7 against a Chiefs defense that has been notably good against the run, allowing just 4.1 yards per carry (tied for sixth best) and a mere 543 yards on the ground.

However, there are a few things working in Wilson’s fantasy favor here.

For starters, one of the ways a struggling San Francisco offense will need to do to keep Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense off the field is to command the ground game, which means Wilson should get plenty of touches.

And all it’d take is for one of those to turn into a chunk play for fantasy owners to be justified in starting the veteran tailback.

Additionally, Wilson is coming off a poorish effort against Atlanta in which he was held to a mere 25 yards on seven carries, and that should serve as motivation for him to have the kind of outing he enjoyed back in Week 5 versus the Carolina Panthers in which he rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown.

While Wilson might not have that kind of commanding performance this Sunday, he’ll certainly be closer to it rather than the lowly numbers he put up last weekend.
